A girl and her purse

It is full of her favorite things: finger puppets, cell phone, bracelets...I need to put her own lipgloss in there and she's set.

Happy Birthday Estee!

I can't believe she is already 2 and about to be a big sister! I wish we lived closer... the time goes by so fast and she changes so much. She is such an amazing little girl, so smart and so funny. I'm looking forward to the birth of the new baby when we'll see everyone again.
Happy Birthday Pookie! We love you!

Thirteen months

I've always thought that people give their babies' age in months because they develop so quickly, every month counts. Well for me, it's hard to get used to saying ONE YEAR. "Months" is much easier to accept.
Well Marlo is officially a toddler, not just walking, but running. She's into everything. So if it's a switch, or a door, a buckle, velcro...she's obsessed with it. She loves to read and play "chase" around the kitchen island. She tries to put on her own clothes and shoes.
Our girl is really trying to talk. It's so funny when she stares into my eyes and moves her little hands and while telling me BIG stories. She's so serious about it!
I should also mention that she sleeps through the night 99% of the time, and she's great about taking her naps. I'm sure it has something to do with her blankies...
I know I'm bragging but I can't help it. She's too good.

Greetings from Big Bear

We got in last night a little after nine and then went out to dinner. Marlo was great on the drive and even at dinner, even though it was way past her bedtime.

She and I went for a walk down to the lake early this morning. The weather couldn't be better.

It's garage sale central here, but so far Mark has yet to stop the car. But we did go to a little Antique fair and got some treasures...

photobooths...

They've been around forever, because they're fun, right? When I'm eighty I'll have stacks of these strips and every one will make me smile.

Amy throws a party

So I got to my sister's on Friday at 7, right when the party was supposed to start...so I wasn't much help. But that's okay because she was in her robe, fresh out of the shower. Then she spent the next couple hours in the kitchen cooking, she was shucking oysters, I'm not kidding.
Anyway, it was a great success. Lots of people showed, they barbequed, the yard was all lit up thanks to luminarias made my Liz. Marlo was in rare form as it was possibly her largest audience ever. It was a very late night for us and we left at (gasp!) 10:30.

Amy with her good friends Liz (left) and Carrie. Amy and Liz went to UC Davis together, and she and Carrie have been friends since grade school. Such beauties!

These two would not stop laughing and be serious for a photo. Wait, maybe Josh is serious here.

Life's a party. Meet the host.

My girls...

Walking Lucy

Now what kind of a mother would I be if I didn't get my girl her very own weenie dog?

Matt & Amy's Wedding

It was such a sweet ceremony. Jack and Riley were so cute up there. I got to meet Yuba City people I'd been hearing about for years and it was a lot of fun.
And that was the best wedding cake I've ever had.

Mother's Day photos

We went to brunch at City Cafe. I took so many photos but only a few turned out. But everyone took a lot so hopefully there's more good ones!

Happy Birthday Josh!

Sorry I have no photo but I want to wish my brother in law Josh a happy 34th birthday! There is a party for him at their house tonight and hopefully my cupcakes will turn out.
Happy Birthday Joshua Blue! We love you!

I forgot about this video from our trip.

These just make me laugh

She is finally wearing sunglasses for more than two seconds instead of immediately pulling them off. I think it's because I'm so amused by it.
In the second photo, if you look closely you can see the charm bracelet that Molly gave her. She'll wear it all day. Fancy.
Mark took the bottom one. There's quite a few good ones in that series. I was upstairs getting ready and these two are tearing around the house with a shopping cart full of babies.

Here she is...

I have decided I prefer to ride in it, not drive it, because I am just too nervous! But I have to say it is a LOVELY ride. Mark picked me up at the airport in it and after hours of travel and chasing Marlo around I NEEDED comfy heated leather seats with adjustable lumbar support.

It is about time Mark got himself a new car (I think I wanted him to have it more than he did) but he really deserves it. Going to and from work in that has got to make a 10-hour day a little better, don't you think?

1 year checkup

Well our happy healthy girl weighs 23 pounds, 3 ounces. She is 30 1/2 inches long. She's in the 85th percentile for height and the 80th for weight.
She got two shots but she was real tough about it. I think she may have even gotten a little mad.
That's Doctor Martin...couldn't ask for a better doctor.

More from the trip

My neice Heather, who's all grown up working as a nanny. She has all kinds of baby info for me. She's so sweet and smart and I'm so proud of her...

Two proud Great Grandmas...Helen is 84 and RoseMary is 82! Lookin' good ladies!

In front of Mike and Dana's house...

Auntie Di and Luke. Look at her skin! It's as smooth as his! Why couldn't I have inherited that?

And guess what? Marlo's sick! I wiped down the whole row of seats on the airplane with sanitizer, both legs of the flight, kept her away from sick kids...useless. Sooo frustrating! We were supposed to go to a friend's tonight for Cinco de Mayo and to watch the boxing match. So I sent Mark by himself, even though they said it was okay to bring Marlo with her runny nose.

Mark just called and said there was a bunch of little kids there. And a mini longhair weenie dog. Bummer...But I wouldn't want Marlo getting anyone sick and she needs her rest.

So I'm at home watching "Gotta Kick it Up" on the Disney channel. Description: "A teacher inspires a group of Latina schoolgirls to reach for their full potential and become a championship dance team."

Don't be jealous.

Baby Luuuuuu!!!!

That's what I want to call him. I just want to get in his little face and yell it. He's sooo cute and tiny and sweet. He never even fusses, only when he's being changed. He's really strong...he holds his head up like it's no big deal. Of course, he has to be tough with my brother tossing him around!

Casual Friday

This morning, 8:30 am:

ME: You're wearing that shirt to work?

MARK: It's Friday.

ME: But it has a skull and a snake on it.

MARK: Then they'll know I mean business.

Cousin lends a hand...

Since Marlo didn't quite know what to do, Sabrina took it upon herself to help her out.

The cake

She tried her best to get through it. She'd missed her nap and was trying to be a good sport. The best part was the look on her face while everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. She must've thought we were nuts.
