Just a thought

Why is Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday of November? I think it's awfully close to Christmas, therefore shortening my holiday season. Why can't it be earlier...say the second Thursday?

It doesn't really have to be a Thursday even. I don't know why it's during the week. It could be the second Friday and then we'd have Black Saturday to follow.

I don't think it would hurt anybody to move it. I'm sure retailers would like to have a longer holiday shopping season. I'm sure the football would get figured out. And I wouldn't mind greater spacing between my turkey consumption.

What do you think? Who's with me?

You know what? THIS MAKES SENSE! You are brilliant my friend. Plus, we could have our christmas trees up for longer! Speaking of which I need to order Luke's stocking...I almost forgot.

You are a nut. You just have to roll with Thanksgiving . . . it has been going on since the pilgrims.

well, I've never thought of it that way, but you have a point. I think we should petition to have it changed. Everyone, but the turkey would benefit. XO

I think you are on to a good idea, Erin. But there is a lot of history that you will have to change. First Thanksgiving was in 1621 in November. Then in 1863, it was decided to celebrate on the 4th Thursday of November and it became a federal holiday in 1941. Hpe this info helps you as you plan to implement change . . . Love you all.
