Conversations

As her mother, I think everything Marlo says is either so sweet or so funny. Here are a few things as of late.

She was in bed with me watching a show before her nap:

ME: "Ok, you can watch this for three minutes and then you have to lay down for nap."
LO: "Okay."
ME: "So when this is done I'm going to turn it off and you're going to lay in your bed. Understand?"
LO: "Yes."
ME: "So when this show is over and I turn of the tv are you going to go lay down or are you going to cry and throw a fit?"
LO: "Ummm...I'm going to cry and throw a fit."

I was eating (as usual):

LO: "Mommy, you can't put food in your tummy. The babies are in your tummy."
ME: "But the food goes in my tummy so the babies can have some."
LO: "What a great idea, Mom!"

Happy Birthday Mark!

It's Big Daddy's big day. 32, can't believe it. He's gets sweeter every year.
We're going to have a little get together here tonight with Lane, Tom and his cousins and some Brett's BBQ. I wish we were having a big fat celebration but the only big and fat around here is me!

Evidence

Mark's mom took some pictures with my camera when I was in the hospital. Marlo must have had it pretty rough.

She was here for the entire 9 days I was in, taking care of Marlo, cooking and cleaning and bringing me food and clothes at the hospital. She was rewarded for all her hard work with a fall down my stairs, fracturing her foot. She has to have surgery next week.

I HATE my stairs right now. My mom fell on them too, and I did once while I was holding Marlo when she was just a baby. Plus I can't even use them right now because I'm on bed rest. Haven't even seen my bedroom since I've been home.

Anyway, a big THANK YOU to my mom in law for all your help. You're the best! I hope your Vicodin is working!

The good news...the bad news...the good news....

We are expecting twin boys! They are due on August 5th. We've known about it from the get go but we've been concerned with making sure they're okay before we made a big announcement. I've been having ultrasounds every two weeks because they are at risk for twin to twin transfusion syndrome.
We just had our 18 week ultrasound on Thursday where they looked at everything in detail and the boys looked fine. All their organs are great and they are measuring right on target. However, my doctor discovered that my cervix was thinning. Thinning leads to opening leads to preterm labor. So she sent me straight to the hospital for a cerclage, a procedure in which they stitch the cervix closed.
So I had that done on Friday and it went just fine without any complications at all. I am on medication to stop contractions and they're going to wean me off of those by Friday. I am not having many contractions at all and the meds are at a tolerable level (they hit me like a truck at first). I should be able to go home on Saturday or Sunday where I'll be on bedrest for at least a week.
Thankfully Mark's mom has been here taking care of Marlo. It is so hard not being with her all day, but she's having the time of her life with her grandma.
So I'm stuck in the hospital and I'll probably be stuck on bedrest after that. You all know I'm already going stir crazy. But things could be A LOT worse. Thank goodness I was being checked regularly and that my amazing doctor caught the problem when she did. I could have just gone into early labor and there isn't much that can be done once that happens.
SO here I am with two baby boys still cookin' in my belly and I'm very grateful for that. Oh and p.s. they're almost positive that they're identical.
